We provide services for both individuals and for companies.

Bindmans has been the first port of call for more than 30 years for MPs and others in the public eye when their reputations have been damaged by inaccurate media reports. We also act for many ordinary people who have been thrust into the media spotlight. Our clients know they can rely on us for a cost-effective, highly-skilled and personal service.

We also act for organisations who may be defending libel actions or who need to take preventative advice. Our clients range from national magazines and publishing companies, to campaigning organisations and charities. We are used to tailoring our services to clients’ particular needs and budgets.

Our experience of working for clients on both sides of the defamation fence (claimant and defendant) gives us invaluable insight into our opponent’s likely tactics. This extra understanding means we can often reach a fair solution swiftly, saving our clients the stress and expense of a drawn-out legal battle. If it’s possible to resolve a case by agreement, we will do so; if it isn’t, we will act robustly on your behalf to achieve the best possible outcome.


The team

Our media and information team is led by Tamsin Allen, who is recognised as a leading expert in all aspects of media and international human rights law. She has a huge amount of experience in advising on all aspects of the use and misuse of personal and company information. She is described as ‘tactically astute’ in the current edition of the independent legal directory Chambers. The team also draw on the expertise of Sir Geoffrey Bindman, Stephen Grosz and Neil O'May and is supported by a dedicated paralegal.

Our media lawyers also work closely with Bindmans’ other departments - in particular Employment, Public law and Criminal law. We can draw on their expertise, when the case demands it, to provide a seamless service to clients.
