Nick joined Bindmans LLP as a trainee solicitor in September 2009 and completed seats in Employment, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence. In March 2011 he qualified as a solicitor and joined Bindmans’ Employment Law Team.
Nick has experience advising individuals and organisations on all areas of employment law including:
- unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal;
- discrimination, harassment and victimisation;
- whistle blowing;
- breach of contract;
- internal grievance and disciplinary procedures;
- compromise agreements and settlement negotiations;
- Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal claims;
- redundancy and capability issues; and
- retirement and age discrimination.
In all cases Nick endeavours to give clear, timely and practical advice in order to secure the best possible results for his clients. He understands the importance of addressing difficult work place issues with sensitivity, tailoring his advice to the specific needs and circumstances of his clients.
Nick has a wealth of experience litigating claims in the Employment Tribunal and has been involved in a number of high profile and or widely reported cases including Grainger -v- Nicholson and Hashman -v- Milton Park (Dorset Ltd) (philosophical belief discrimination), Husain-Naviatti -v- Forensic Therapies Ltd (whistle blowing) and Gill & Ors -v- Mireskandari (unfair dismissal and breach of contract). Nick can advise on the merits of Employment Tribunal claims and manage cases through to completion.
Prior to joining Bindmans, Nick provided pro bono employment law advice and case work with the Free Representation Unit and the Mary Ward Legal Centre before completing nine months with a niche practice specialising in providing contract and employment law advice to healthcare practitioners.
Nick has written a number of articles for legal publications and recently gave a talk for the Association of Muslim Lawyers on dispute resolution and unfair dismissal. His publications and articles include:
Before entering the legal profession Nick studied Art History and Philosophy and worked in publishing.
Nick is a member of the Discrimination Law Association.
